Arabinoses (345)

Arabinose, also referred to as L(+)-arabinose, L(+)-pentose, or pectinose, is a left-handed monosaccharide obtained through complex chemical and physical processes from a colloid secreted by the Arabica tree. In nature, arabinose is rarely found in its free form and is typically combined with other monosaccharides, existing as heteropolysaccharides in plant pulp, gum, hemicellulose, pectin acid, bacterial polysaccharides, and certain glycosides. As a low-calorie sweetener, arabinose is extensively used in the food industry for producing health-oriented options such as sugar-free and low-sugar foods. Beyond this, it also finds applications in medicine, health foods, biological research, bioengineering, as well as in the production of flavors and fragrances.
