Peptides are abundant in nature and within living organisms. They consist of two or more amino acids linked by peptide bonds and are also derived from the partial hydrolysis of proteins. To date, numerous peptides have been identified in organisms, where they play a crucial role in regulating and supporting various life processes. Based on the number of amino acids they contain, peptides are classified into oligopeptides (2鈥?0 amino acids) and polypeptides (more than 10 amino acids).
