The electrolytes in DSSCs enable ion transfer between the electrodes and the dye sensitizer. They must possess high ionic conductivity, low viscosity, and stability under working conditions. Frequently used electrolytes include iodide/triiodide redox couples in organic solvents, which play a key role in ensuring the efficient performance of DSSCs.
