Pyrenes (965)

Pyrene, a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon composed of four fused benzene rings, is noted for its intense fluorescence and exceptional photostability. In semiconductor applications, it is valued for its capability to form well-ordered self-assemblies that promote efficient charge transport. Its extensive aromatic surface enables strong π-π interactions, enhancing charge carrier mobility in organic semiconductors. Pyrene has also been integrated into donor-acceptor copolymers to improve the light-harvesting efficiency of solar cells. Additionally, its luminescent properties make it suitable for use in OLEDs and other light-emitting devices.
