For instance, cathepsins in lysosomes can break down peptide bonds, including dipeptide or tetrapeptide linkers. Additionally, glycosidases can hydrolyze β-glucuronide and β-galactosidase, phosphatases can hydrolyze pyrophosphate, and sulfatases can cleave sulfates.
